I think the blog (wordpress.com) was fairly hard to work with since it’s not customizable. I would have liked more flexibility with my layout and style. Perhaps in the future it might be easier to use blogspot.com. What i do like about wordpress, however, is how it organizes the blog into categories and the pages which explain the categories. It seems well suited for composing a mystory, which can be a confusing process. Photoshop allowed me to synthesize my images into fun expressions of my worldview. My experience with photoshop was great and only limited by my lack of ability to do certain things.

I’ve always secretly hoped that my parents’ new-agey-ness wouldn’t rub off on me. I wish I could be more cynical and pessimistic sometimes, but I can’t. I do think that my wide image is a fairly accurate assessment of my worldview, even though I find it’s also embarrassing. I’m usually reluctant to admit my worldview because the majority of my friends would think it’s overly-optimistic and fanciful. To me though, it’s real. I feel like countless experiences in my life have shown me that magical moments can happen. Those moments are usually very simple — seeing an otter swim by while I was tubing down a stream, swimming with manatees in a secluded river in cocoa beach — or they’re the product of neat coincidences. I think my worldview also explains why I dislike hearing people complain. I do feel that people are responsible for their happiness and if you’re bogged down in complaining then there is an easy way out — fix the things you complain about.

Koren’s Wabi-Sabi effectively explained the spiritual basis of the emblem. His explanations of wabi-sabi metaphysics and mood helped me understand how to evoke the same things from my own image. A Chorus of Stones had a number of community stories that were helpful in constructing my own community story. The community story should show a narrative that is communal — her community stories prove this through her interviews with different people in the same community. The Tools of Screenwriting was the hardest novel to apply to my writing. I find that my experiences with movies are more emotional and internal and harder to explain or quantify using the tools given in the novel.. Aside from being well written and interesting, Momaday’s novel was the most helpful in composing the entire mystory. He effectively composes a number of mystories in each chapter, analyzing each image and idea as he progresses.

Metaphysics – World View

basic aspects of our life – the view of the night sky – remind us that beauty exists in our everyday life if we choose to see it

My father is holding me safely on his shoulders. It’s a windy night, the old oak trees creak and moan in the night. We hear the trees speak to only us. His story becomes real to me. Stories do not replace our experiences, they are not an escape. They are instigators — showing us that all things are possible, encouraging us to experience them for ourselves. Fantastic stories do not only exist in stories, they can be experienced and made real if you pursue your adventure. Sarah Crewe from a little princess imagines that her room is an ornately decorated palace. She awakes to find herself surrounded by rich fabrics and decorations in her once dingy attic. Her dreams became reality.

Mood – My Feeling

SAFETY, EXCITEMENT, FREEDOM

I’m sitting Indian-style, safe in my mother’s room as she tells me a scary story. I am imagining and excited as my mother narrates. Though the story is suspenseful, I feel safe. Even when my brother bursts in to scare me I am not scared – I know I am safe.
My sister warns me of the one-eyed owner of the orange grove. I hope that the story is real and despite my fear, I continue to play in the orange groves, hoping to see him.
I am excited to experience life. I know that I can make my life special and magical because I make my decisions. I have the freedom to make my life exactly how I want it to be. I am happiest when I feel safe in my experiences of beauty and the world. Excitement does not necessitate danger.

Morality – Conduct

Real stories are often just as unbelievable and unexplainable as the fantastical. White settlers are frightened by the freedom of the natives. They try to stifle their freedom by creating stories of their viciousness to inspire fear of the natives. Sad stories can be made as real as the fantastical. Stories are powerful.

I listen carefully to avoid mistakes, to gain knowledge, to know another person’s experience. Narratives swim to a finish, roll onto the shore and return to be remade and retold. All stories come from a person’s experience with the world or her imagination. The fantastical can be real. Not all things are possible, but possibly most are. Every person tells the story of their life. I can create and write my story to be as sad or happy as I choose. The only way to discover your identity is through experiencing life. Stories show us, even in dismal times, that life can be magical.

Left to right. Symbols that denote sounds. Sounds that denote language. Sound strings together words. Words to Sentences.

Fort Gatlin

pioneers who settle on the frontier for five years the title to 160 acres of land. Natives found crossing the border are killed.
